More Info on GAF-ELK Pricing & Products

The new merger has resulted in a few more product changes that we'd like to keep you abreast of. 

The architectural product lines of the two companies will be merged into a product called Timberline Pristique High Definition Shingles and they'll be available in 30-Year, 40-Year and Lifetime.  (Lifetime is the same as the previous Ultra or 50-Year product lines.)  All of the High Definition products will be sized on a metric scale versus the standard measurement scale that you may be used to.  The bottom line on this is that the old Timberline Shingles were 12" X 36" with a 5" exposure - the new line of Timberline Pristique High Definition Shingles will be approximately 13.25" X 38.75" with a 5.625" exposure. This just means that you'll be able to cover one square with 66 shingles rather than the previous 80 shingles per square. 

If you really want to stick to the 80 shingle per square method, you can still get the Timberline Natural Shadow 30-Year shingles in the standard size, but they won't be the high definition coloring of the other product lines. 
As far as the Royal Soverign Shingles (3-Tabs), they are remaining basically unchanged outside of a slight granular color change.  There will be a DO NOT MIX situation on all of the GAF-ELK products (including 3-tabs) as the colors will be different enough that they really shouldn't be used on the same roof.  

The prices on these updated GAF-ELK products will likely show about a 5-7% increase, in mid-December.  We will be selling through as much of our current inventory as possible before getting the new product in stock, and your prices won't change until we see an increase on our end. 
If you have any questions at all about these changes, don't hesitate to call any of the sales people at your closest yard.  All of our sales staff has been through a recent training by our GAF-ELK representative and the info is fresh in their minds. 

Also, keep your eyes open for a contractor training on the merger in mid-late November!
